The Dixon Historical Guild beginnings...

The late Hayward Melville started this website to preserve Dixon's History for future generations that he worked tirelessly on for decades. He was not from the area, but felt at home here in Dixon until he retired to Bulgaria with his wife. He and Alan paid in advance to have the original site up until it expired in 2024.
Alan comes from pioneer families in Solano, Yolo, Sacramento and Glen Counties. He has been researching diligently for decades and partnered up with Hayward to compile their unprecedented amount of historical knowledge, research and family photographs onto the original site and now here.
Alan is pleased to be able to restore the information from the original site as a foundation for the on-going research and passion for Dixon's history with his new partners, Wendi, Don, Denise, Ginger, Bill, Michael and Pam, who hope to inspire new historians to join in the uncovering of how the pioneers and their families came to the west in search of "home". The Original Guild knowledge base has been an invaluable foundation for the new historical partners' research. We hope you find the information and this site interesting and you learn something new about what made Dixon what it is today!
