The first permanent Post Office, which was built in 1908, has undergone several façade changes. It lasted 57 years until the current one at 221 W. A. St. was dedicated in 1965. When it first opened in 1908 there were a Doctor, Dentist, and Businessman upstairs.

The land was donated by Oscar Carl Schulze and Caroline W Todt Schulze (1865-1919). Oscar Carl Schulze was a prominent Dixon Businessman. He was born in Lima, Peru on May 9th, 1858, to Oscar Alexander and Anna Schulze. He attended Heald College in San Francisco and worked for Eppinger’s & Company in 1876, then one of the great wheat buying firms in the state and oversaw their Artois (formerly Germantown) store in Glenn County. Oscar married Miss Caroline Todt in 1880 in Artois, California. Five children were born to Oscar and Caroline. In 1891, Oscar took charge of the Eppinger’s store in Dixon and became the owner in 1903. The store was renamed to the Oscar C Schulze General Merchandise Store. The building was extended from the railroad station to First Street. Oscar built the first Post Office building on the corner of B Street and First Street.
